Toronto and Subway's tunnel

Journal Entry: Sun Nov 25, 2007, 10:47 PM

Hilo,

The train was approaching at the speed that could kill a being instantly, I was standing on the edge where the yellow painted pavement warned not to stand too close...the head of the train passed by and wind swept through the tunnel like a hurricane...I turned my head following the direction of the wind as the multiple forces came toward me from the compressed tunnel that got invaded by a bullet. It was so fast I felt my spinal cords crackled in trying to endure the turn. My heartbeats increased exponentially and I smiled. It was an incredible feeling. Though that moment lightened up my mood, riding the train reminded a memory I had back in May...

That was the highlight for the Toronto's trip. Oh and of course there were other things too...ROM was nice, the exhibitions aren't that good but the architecture (the renovation by Daniel Lisbekind) was very intriguing. I think he designed with the thought of photographers who don't have an ultra wide angle lens to shoot with. It was like a playground for me. The BCE Place was a bit disappointed. There wasn't much to see except for the over-structured ceiling that looks like a modern cathedral (if there's such a term to describe such structure) I was expecting for some more plays w/ the spatial manipulation by Calatrava. However, I did enjoy the lighting within the space and the connection between the old and the new. Toronto seems to be smart about such design sensibility. The CN tower was ok, I wasn't impressed with its height, maybe it was the Toronto's skyline that didn't impress me much. Though it's the 2nd tallest, I was more impressed with the John Hancock building in Chicago (4th tallest building) because there's more to be captivated by the Chicago's skyline i think.

As I walked through Toronto, I ran into a rally. People were gathering with signs to protest taser usages by police. I'll talk more about it when I upload the documentation I did for the event.

I love running into these events on the street. It's the great part of traveling. You planned some and you let coincidences planned some. It makes the photos you shot a good stew when you browse through it. :D

anywho, that's all for now...the photo stew for this will be up shortly after many many photos i have to upload from my interstate trips after the Viet Nam's trip. I have 6 months worth of photos backed up in my hard drive. ;)
